Result: Sarisbury lost by 4 Wickets.
Captain's Report
Having lost the toss on a damp, green pitch I was invited to bat.
Conditions early on were difficult with some tidy bowling restricting
the rate, but the score steadily moved to the early 30s before the first
wicket was lost. The innings continued to build at a steady rate until
the latter stages when it slowed down - look for the ones and twos guys!
- before an excting last half-dozen overs where Les, Peter and Steve
showed how it should be done. The innings finished at 145 for 7, good
because of the 30 overs slowdown, but bad because it was on the low-end
of the wanted score.
Hamble's innings started with a rapid succession of wickets, leaving the
visitors on 18-4 - the first victory was in sight - but with the
exception of some later order fun, the visitors amassed the runs at an
alarming rate to win with 4 wickets to spare. Of the target score, one
batsman scored 92 runs - if only one of the chances offered had stuck it
could all have been so different.
Life is all about ifs, buts and maybes - a simple sum-up of this
match...
