Captain's Report
Winning the toss on a warm sunny day, I elected to bat and we set off on a
cautious start, surviving the early overs with the exception of one wicket, with little
excitement or dramas, with some good tidy bowling.
The score ticked over steadily at 3 an over - but despite the visitors having only 9 men,
runs were still hard to come by. The 20th over appeared to be the turning point with
2 wickets falling in consecutive balls and then wickets seemed to fall at regular
intervals as the innings closed at 102 off 29 overs. A disappointing total given the
circumstances.
The visitors innings opened with an early wicket - perhaps there lay some hope - 16 overs
later we were in the changing rooms having been well and truly beaten.
When all's said and done, losing is a part of playing, losing heavily is hard to swallow.
Looking on the bright side (good old Monty Python) Roy batted very well given the
circumstances and it was a shame he ran out of partners and failed to get is 50.
