Result

Sarisbury lost by 38 runs

2nd Team Vs Hartley Wintney (6th July 2002 - Away)

After four wins on the trot Sarisbury seconds lost to Hartley Wintney to leave
them nearer to the middle of the table with a record of 4 wins and 3 defeats.
Promotion prospects look slim at this point.

After losing the toss and being asked to field, Sarisbury generally bowled and
fielded well. On a ground where a score of 200 is by no means guaranteed to be enough, Hartley Wintney were limited to a final score of 189 for 7. Sayers (47) and Plume (41) were the most notable contributors.

On the bowling front the wickets were evenly distributed amongst the bowlers with Roberts (3), Journeaux M (2), and Evans and Ducellier (one a piece) all making contributions. In keeping with recent weeks the catching and ground fielding was impressive.

Having managed to score in excess of two hundred on two occasions recently we were happy with the situation at tea.

Then the whole afternoon began to go horribly wrong. Through a mixture of poor shots and poor running we were reduced to 42 for 5 after 21 overs.

Whilst the top order may have been without a couple of regulars, it is difficult to come back from as dire a situation as this.

Jerry Weeks did his utmost scoring 53, but he did not have enough support from the rest to influence the result.

Apart from this innings the highlight of the day was a last wicket stand of 33 between Rob Evans and his dad Bill. Bill was only playing because one person did not turn up.

Sarisbury finally ended up with 151 all out, losing by 38 runs, and earning eight bonus points.
